Meet Ramona Robinson, certified hypnotherapist and founder of RoRa Hypnosis, and this week’s #PeopleOfWilmDE. Read her story below!
Wilmington Connection
How long have you lived/worked in Wilmington?
I’ve lived in Wilmington for 20 years.
My background:
I came to Wilmington after finishing college, following my mother who had moved here. Originally, I’m from Germany, but I’ve lived in many places—Germany, England, Hawaii, and Alabama—before finding a home here in Delaware.
Why do you continue to choose Wilmington to work in/live in?
My children were born here, so my roots are deep. Wilmington has become home, and I appreciate how centrally located it is—it’s just a short drive to so many different places, cities, and experiences.
How has being in Wilmington helped you be where you are today professionally and personally?
Wilmington gave me the chance to meet some extraordinary people who changed the course of my life. One of those was a local hypnotist who saw something in me and encouraged me to follow this path. That moment of encouragement completely reshaped my future—and now I’m doing work I love and helping others find their healing.
Wilmington Favorites
Favorite Wilmington attraction/event and why:
The Separation Day fireworks in Old New Castle are absolutely magical. It’s such a beautiful celebration.
Best place to catch live music:
The Jackson Inn used to be a great local spot before it closed. I’d love to discover new places, so I’m open to suggestions.
Ideal itinerary for a night out in Wilmington/weekend in Wilmington (where to go for drinks, dinner, events, etc.):
Honestly, I don’t go out much, but I’d love to change that. If someone wants to plan a fun night out for me, I’m all ears!
Insights and Future Vision
Exciting Developments:
Most of what I know comes through business networking, but I know there are people here creating powerful things behind the scenes. I’m excited to see more of that rise to the surface.
Future Vision:
I’d love to see more unique events, creative spaces, and opportunities for small businesses to thrive. Wilmington has so much potential, and more support for local entrepreneurs could bring incredible innovation and heart to our community.
Advice for Wilmingtonians:
If you’re moving through something hard, you don’t have to carry it all alone. Wilmington has more support and heart than people sometimes realize. There’s no shame in needing a little help. Whether it’s talking to someone, exploring new tools, or simply giving yourself permission to slow down, there are ways to reconnect with yourself and find your way forward. You deserve to feel supported, grounded, and at home in your own life.
Personal Reflections
Proudest Moment:
There’s a bra named after me. Yes, really—The Rora. You can find it at Victoria’s Secret.
After going through cancer, I said yes to modeling for AnaOno, a lingerie brand for breast cancer survivors. That led to working with Soma too, and eventually, the Rora bra was born. It was voted Best Wireless Bra for After Surgery by Good Housekeeping, featured in Vogue, and now sold nationwide.
From one of the hardest seasons of my life came a moment of visibility, healing, and unexpected joy.
It just goes to show—when you say yes to yourself, you never know where it might lead.
Volunteer Work:
I serve on the marketing committee for Ronald McDonald House Charities of Greater Delaware. They do life-changing work supporting families of seriously ill children. If you’re a business owner, consider donating to their fundraisers. Every contribution creates real impact.
Interesting Facts:
- I’m also an artist. I love painting, photography, and creating short films. Expressing emotion through visual storytelling has always been one of my favorite ways to connect with the world.
- I learned how to speak English when I was nine by attending an American school without knowing a word of it. Total immersion. Terrifying at the time, but it taught me resilience early on and shaped how I adapt to change.
- I help people overcome fears, habits, and emotional pain through hypnosis. It’s often the last thing they try—but the first thing that finally helps them come home to themselves.
Additional Anecdote:
I had cancer, and I know what it’s like to face something that brings your life to a standstill. But I also know there are incredible people and resources in this city—people who will show up for you when you need it most. If you or someone you love is navigating something similar, reach out. I’m always happy to help connect you to support.
